WHO WILL BE THE 5TH ELECTED PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE FOR NPP
Boakye Agyarko and Francis
Addai-Nimoh, who finished fifth in the Super Delegates Conference, have both
been suggested as candidates for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential
Primary on November 4.
According to Mr. Kwabena Agyei
Agyapong, despite the fact that five candidates are required for the subsequent
round of the election, the six candidates may be permitted to avoid the expense
of holding a run-off for the two.
Both Francis Addai-Nimoh and
Boakye Agyarko were joint-fifth in the NPP Super Delegates Meeting on Saturday,
August 26, where they surveyed nine votes each.
It was anticipated that the Party
would select five out of ten candidates to participate in the November 4
Presidential Primary.
Mr Agyapong, who couldn't shape
the main five applicants in the primary round, swore to table the issue before
the NPP's Official Decisions Advisory group as well as the Public Committee
meeting on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
"On Wednesday, the National
Council will meet; I'm an individual from it. Assuming I have the open door, I
will propose that they ought to permit them to join. Six is the same as
five...."
"All things considered, the
entire thought behind pruning down is a result of the monstrous numbers that we
saw in 2007, when I was the most youthful of the 17 wannabes and this time, we
had 10, which with a few of us, in our view, they might have permitted us to go
straight on."
He emphasized: Given that they
share the fifth position, I believe they should be allowed.
Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye,
Director of the Reviewing Board talking after the statement of the outcomes by
Electoral Commission (EC), declared a run-off on Saturday, second September to
break the tie between Addai-Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko.
